Peoria, AZ City Attorney's Office is currently seeking a highly motivated experienced litigation attorney with substantial government litigation experience for the Civil Litigation Unit of the General Counsel Section.
This position represents the City of Peoria in state and federal court cases such as §1983, negligence, employment, eminent domain, and election law cases. S/he also acts as a legal advisor to all levels of City government and performs legal research. Additionally, the incumbent may indirectly supervise Legal Specialists, Paralegals, or Law Clerks.
This position requires a Juris Doctorate from an American Bar Association accredited law school, a minimum of six years litigation experience, and membership in good standing in the State Bar of Arizona. Municipal law or other government experience is preferred. The successful candidate will have, or obtain within three months of hire, admission to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (Litigation Assignment) and the US District Court for the District of Arizona (Litigation Assignment).
