Description:
Goel & Anderson currently has an opening to fill a key role in our firm. We are seeking a mid- level or senior-level Associate Attorney with 3+ years of experience in business immigration law for our office in Reston, VA.

This role involves significant responsibility within the firm’s non-immigrant visa division, with extensive client contact and responsibility for client and case management for specific corporate clients and their employees. Additional responsibilities include preparing substantive legal work product and directly supervising and reviewing the work of other G&A staff, while communicating and coordinating with clients to develop case strategies, procedures, and reports to address one or more corporate clients’ U.S. immigration needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop case strategies for nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions and applications
  • Assess the eligibility of corporate foreign national employees for non-immigrant and immigrant visa status in the United States
  • Advise and work in conjunction with client Legal/HR/Immigration/Mobility personnel to prepare nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions and applications for submission to United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), and U.S. Consulates;
  • Assist in development and/or support of clients' immigration program and compliance initiatives
  • Supervise and review the work of junior-level associates and/or paralegal staff
  • Train paralegal and support staff on immigration practice and procedure
  • Research immigration law and procedures
  • Prepare legal correspondence and memoranda
  • Enter case information into computerized databases and case management systems
  • Track the status of filings and inform clients of any follow up that may be necessary
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information; and
  • Other duties as required

Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • English language fluency with excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written), and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to work effectively under strict time deadlines while handling significant case volumes
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, with emphasis on ability to work within a team structure
  • Ability to manage, review, assess, and train subordinate staff
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication skills
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds, Stand or sit for long periods of time

Minimum Education, Experience and Licensure:
  • J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. university is required
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience practicing business immigration law, with a focus on preparing non-immigrant (e.g., H-1B, L-1B, L-1A, E-3, TN, O-1, etc.) and immigrant (PERM and EB-1) filings
