Position Summary Safari Energy has an exciting opportunity for a collaborative, highly-energetic and results-driven professional to join our team! Reporting to the General Counsel, the Senior Counsel will assist in delivering first class legal support to the various business units of Safari Energy. The ability to work both independently and provide team leadership and mentorship are critical, as well as the desire and innovative mind set to operate as an important contributor within a fast-pace, early stage company environment.
Assist business teams such as Asset Management, Procurement, Sales & Marketing, and Business Development in drafting clear and concise technical documents such as Requests for Proposals (RFP), and other contract documents with timely delivery
Structure and negotiate equipment supply, EPC, O&M, lease, power purchase, performance guarantee and warranty agreements with commercial customers for solar, energy storage and solar + storage projects
Review and help prepare responses to requests for proposals and other competitive tenders
Provide a first level review of various contracts, agreements and other legal documents, preparing redline comments to review with General Counsel
Review and negotiate nondisclosure and confidentiality agreements with vendors and business partners, elevating complicated issues to the General Counsel
Work with the General Counsel to ensure quality, clarity and consistency across all legal documentation
On a limited basis, conduct legal research on various legal topics to create memorandum with recommendations and summarize findings to review with the General Counsel
Candidate Qualifications Candidates must meet the basic qualifications and pass all required tests or assessments to receive consideration. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.
A current licence to practice in one or more US jurisdictions
A minimum of 5 years in-house experience focusing specifically on Project Finance at a company, preferably in the energy industry
Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts including PPA and EPC Contracts, and/or Sale-Lease-Backs, Partnerships Flips, and Operating Leases
A team player with the ability to proactively identify problems, drive projects, make complex cost/benefit assessments, and identify pragmatic/creative legal and business solutions
Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively and to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced, challenging environment
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to quickly and effectively communicate with people at all levels of the organization
Excellent negotiation and communications skills

Analytical ability and strong attention to detail
Proven ability to quickly and accurately solve problems and come up with value added solutions
