We are currently seeking an Associate Corporate Counsel – Procurement reporting to an Assistant General Counsel to provide legal support handling procurement transactions and related contract matters for Compass Group and Foodbuy, LLC. Compass Group looks for an individual that can play a strategic role in helping the company balance commercial and contractual goals with legal and risk factors. A successful candidate will have expertise in group purchasing matters, deal negotiation and analysis, contract drafting and interpretation, advising business unit leaders and strong verbal and written communication skills. A strong sense of partnership and a commercial viewpoint are key.
Responsible for handling a variety of transactional and contractual matters for Compass Group with primary emphasis on assisting the group purchasing function of Foodbuy, LLC.
Participating in the development and implementation of sourcing processes and familiarity with contract management systems.
Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of procurement agreements to support Compass Group and Foodbuy membership with a focus on food products, supplies and equipment, services, distribution and technology related agreements.
Assisting in developing or improving contract templates and guidance for business team leads, including managing training sessions and developing written procedures.
Providing advice on laws, legal trends, and corporate policies related to group purchasing matters, indemnification, warranties, payment terms, risk, food safety issues, supply chain transparency, corporate sustainability and regulations applicable to the operation of Foodbuy’s procurement function.
Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating other matters including non-disclosure agreements, customer contracts, data sharing and acquisitions.
Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school with accompanying state licensure.
Preferred experience of 1 or more years in the essential job duties described above.
Foundational knowledge of procurement agreements, group purchasing matters, foodservice and/or hospitality industry is a plus.
Proven ability and successes in the following: proactively seeking and executing creative solutions, providing strong customer service, and negotiating, partnering and communicating effectively with clients and colleagues.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret laws, rules and regulations, legal documents, and financial and other reports, with experience in the principles, practices, laws and regulations associated with procurement agreements.
Ability to anticipate, recognize and define problems from both a legal and overall corporate perspective, collect data, establish facts, and draw logical and valid conclusions based on sound legal and business judgment
Excellent writing, research, technical, communication, organizational, data analysis and decision-making skills
Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills required.
Lexis or Westlaw experience preferred.
Team player in a fast paced, high volume and constantly changing environment
