KPG is actively involved in the acquisition and development of commercial office properties, facilities management, and fund management. These opportunities are pursued by each KPG regional team with the cooperation and support of other dedicated groups operating within the firm, including Finance and Accounting.
KPG prides itself on the success of its transactions and relationships with lenders, investors and real estate partners. The successful candidate must be a skilled real estate attorney with significant experience representing institutional clients. The newly created role requires a market-minded attorney who can work independently but seeks collaboration with other team members in support of KPG’s business growth. The position requires an attorney with the ability to run deals from inception to closing while managing outside counsel, making decisions on legal issues and providing counsel to business teams.
Legal support for transactional work arising out of KPG, as well as all real estate transactions that may arise from strategic partnerships/joint ventures created by KPG
Negotiation of loan documents for complex real estate transactions, financings and refinancing
Creation and/or review of real estate investment structures
Creation and/or review of acquisition, investment, sale/purchase, financing, development, re-development and joint venture agreements
Management of outside counsel providing primary support and review of transactional documents
Establishment of forms and policies to facilitate KPG goals and objectives, while protecting the firm’s legal interest
Support and manage preparation of leases
Required: JD and admission to the bar of Pennsylvania
Required: Ten + years’ experience with one or more major law firms in the real estate department (representation of lenders would be a plus)
Knowledge of Real estate joint ventures, Real estate acquisitions/dispositions, Advice concerning title and land use issues, Leasing, Construction & permanent financing (representing the borrower) and Construction/development documentation
Experience acting as the primary attorney responsible for both drafting and negotiating transactional real estate documents including purchases, sales and financing
Experience in a real estate development or construction environment preferable
Able to assess legal risks in practical ways and to adjust quickly to ever-changing business needs and priorities
Knowledge of multiple real estate product types and partnership documents a plus
Able to delegate work to outside counsel, manage their costs, and hold that team accountable.
KPG is open to an arrangement that is part time and that permits some telecommuting
