We’re looking for a talented lawyer to support our rapidly growing Amazon Air business, which currently operates an air cargo network using a fleet of over 40 Boeing 767 aircraft across more than 20 U.S. airports and recently announced plans to build a regional hub at Fort Worth Alliance Airport (AFW) in addition to a central hub at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) that has the potential to grow into one of the most significant facilities of its kind over the next several years. You’ll be an integral part of the Amazon Air team, working to continually improve the experiences of our customers and optimize the transportation and logistics network. You’ll provide legal advice to the business on day to day operational issues and long term strategy, in addition to serving as lead counsel on strategic commercial deals and aviation regulatory matters and resolving issues that arise in commercial relationships with our airline partners, airports, and other service providers. You’ll develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways and build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly.
The position is based at our headquarters in Seattle. Some travel may be required. Competitive salary includes equity.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of legal experience (with at least two years at a law firm)
Juris doctor, strong academic credentials, and membership in at least one state bar
Preferred Qualifications
A mix of transactional law firm and in-house and/or government experience working in the aviation industry
Experience in representing corporate clients in contract negotiations
Ability to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations
Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
