Position Responsibilities
We are looking for a motivated, energetic attorney to join our Legal Team. The Corporate Counsel – Privacy and Security will:
  • Drive, develop and ensure compliance with global legal requirements and controls relating to data privacy and information security;
  • Maintain a corporate repository of global, federal and state rules relating to data privacy as well as information security best practices and technological advancements;
  • Draft, review and advise on policies, online terms and procedures concerning privacy, security and data handling matters;
  • Assist in the review, drafting and negotiation of data privacy and information security provisions in customer, partner and vendor contracts;
  • Provide guidance to sales, marketing and product development teams regarding the potential impact of data privacy, information security and data handling regulations on product roadmaps and software functionality requirements;
  • Conduct and advise on audits and assessments relating to data privacy, information security and data handling matters;
  • Serve on cross-functional due diligence and integration teams in connection with corporate acquisitions, providing guidance on data compliance matters;
  • Support and guide the development and delivery of educational programs relating to data privacy, information security and other compliance areas; and
  • Lead or assist with other projects to improve processes and facilitate collaboration.

The ideal candidate would be able to:
  • Quickly understand key business objectives;
  • Rapidly assess potential risks, benefits and consequences of decisions;
  • Summarize key legal, technical and business issues and propose practical alternatives; and
  • Efficiently manage a large variety of projects with a significant degree of independence.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from a top school and bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction;
  • 4+ years of relevant experience and/or CIPP accreditation;
  • Experience with multi-national and/or technology companies;
  • Significant U.S. and global privacy, information security and compliance experience, especially in development and maintenance of privacy programs, incident management, international data transfers, cloud computing, information governance and privacy by design.
  • Familiarity with more than one of the following standards: GDPR, CCPA, NIST SP-800, ISO 27001 and SOC reports
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Positive attitude and interpersonal skills that will foster teamwork and effective collaboration within the Legal team and across other business units; and
  • Familiarity with and interest in technology and software-related concepts.
