About the Role
The Uber Legal Team is currently searching for Counsel to support our Airports business as part of our Central Operations Regulatory Legal Team. You will report to Senior Counsel, and be based at Uber's office in Chicago. Regulatory work is a critical part of our business and Airports are unique in that they operate in a complex regulatory environment. We are working hard to shape our regulatory frameworks and Airport agreements, develop and maintain positive relationships with Airports, and advise the business on our legal requirements.

What You’ll Do
  • Hands-on work in regulatory matters and legislative matters affecting airports
  • Drafting and direct negotiation of operating agreements with public and private entity airports in highly-regulated environments
  • Work closely with the operations, policy, business development and product teams at Uber to provide strategic and proactive legal advice on regulatory matters, contractual terms, policy strategies and product designs affecting airports
  • Understand, interpret, and apply law and regulations as applicable to Uber's current and future business model at Airports

What You’ll Need
  • 5+ years of legal experience at a mid to large size law firm, government regulatory entity, or in-house corporate role
  • Prior experience negotiating contracts with governmental entities preferred
  • Outstanding writing, research, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent business judgement, oral advocacy and negotiation skills
  • Experience crafting strategies to achieve ambitious regulatory goals, and advocacy in rulemaking proceedings before a regulatory body
  • Experience leading and managing regulatory or policy initiatives for your clients
  • Ability to multitask and carry out important projects with limited oversight
  • Outstanding academic performance in law school and additional preference for joint JD/MBA holders
  • Ability to thrive in high impact/high profile situations
  • Experience working at/with airports or in the aviation industry is a plus
  • Experience before federal or state regulatory bodies is a plus
  • Enthusiastic about Uber!
