As a senior member of our initial legal team at SiFive, you will drive technical transactions while building bridges both internally and externally to impact significant business development as you design strategic partnerships and structure contracts with partners. In this broad and global role, you will be responsible for diverse projects and policies as you hone our legal framework. You will report to and work closely with the SVP Corporate Development, Strategy, and General Counsel at SiFive. You will manage and collaborate with third party firms as we deliver and align our legal function with our core business objectives. You will serve as the primary legal partner to leaders in the Product Office and emerging Business Units across Data Center, Automated Intelligence, RISC-V, and Custom SoC. You will collaborate with many business leads including product managers, engineers, and designers. As the company grows, you will be responsible for developing a team of attorneys and legal professionals.
Support the product team as the company scales globally including strategic work that may include patents, acquisitions, or licensing activities
Handle IP and business transactions - negotiate university, semiconductor, and other patent and technology agreements
Counsel in technology law – advise senior executives on technology transactions and intellectual property issues related to a wide variety of business activities and relationships
Draft and manage a wide-range of legal documents such as joint ventures, NDA, licenses, and contracts
Oversee outside counsel relationships
Identify requirements for and support in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure company compliance with U.S. import and export control laws and regulations (EAR/ITAR)
Stay current with changes to and application of relevant regulations
Respond to problems using cutting edge approaches
Collaborate closely with other team members
J.D. with membership in at least one state bar
A minimum of ten years of legal experience, from a law firm or in-house
Ability to travel domestically and globally about 30-50%
