Work within the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), assisting its legal staff on timely and innovative projects and advice to business clients that OGC supports. Interact with OGC staff and business clients to drive results and increase your legal knowledge, skill and familiarity with BBH.
Responsibilities: Assist with various legal projects, including:
Perform and update legal research and draft memos for subject matter lawyers.
Compile, organize, and upload historical global legal opinions and memos to iManage, OGC’s data management system.
Accompany BBH attorneys to internal client meetings to discuss and assist attorneys with BBH projects.
Review and summarize particular provisions of client contracts for conformity with or approved deviation from BBH’s preferred legal standards. Will require some level of understanding/interpretation of contract provisions.
Review industry legal opinions, white papers, and other documentation for recommended contractual terms.
Follow industry and legal periodicals, resources and web sites for pertinent legal developments or news items.
Assist in refreshing OGC contract templates.
Law school student with strong organizational, reading and writing skills, who can work proactively and independently.
Preference for individual with a major in economics, law, government, policy, finance or business.
Preference for individual with a desire to learn about in-house legal or compliance functions.
Ability to prioritize, take initiative and assist in bringing projects to conclusion with attention to detail.
Creative, open minded, intellectually curious personality a plus.
Experience working with iManage a plus.
